A Simple Reminder You Might Need

Hey Reader,

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed lately — like your mind is racing faster than your body can keep up — I want to share a moment from my own life that might speak to you.

A couple of months ago, my head felt like a tornado — full and spinning. I was overwhelmed, trying to juggle so many different things at once, but it felt like nothing was really moving forward. I was stuck. Stressed. Tense in my body and scattered in my thoughts.

During a phone call with my dad, I let some of the weight out and he said something simple that stopped me in my tracks:
“You need to slow down.”

I knew instantly he was right. All the spinning, all the pressure, all the chaos — it was happening because I was never truly here. I was living in the future, forecasting worst-case scenarios and trying to plan 12 steps ahead. No wonder I couldn’t find peace.

The next day, I made a conscious decision to anchor myself in the present. I scaled back. I picked one or two meaningful things to do each day, instead of chasing a never-ending to-do list. I came back into my body. I let my shoulders drop. I stopped trying to hold it all.

And from this place — with fewer tasks but more presence — I started making real progress. It felt like flow.

So many of us try to fix our stress by doing more. More supplements. More plans. More goals. But true healing often starts with the opposite — doing less so we can actually feel and process what’s already here.

Slowing down doesn’t mean giving up. It means giving yourself space to land. When we stop living in the anxious "what ifs" of the future, we create the conditions for healing to happen in the now — where the nervous system can soften, and the body can begin to recalibrate.

This is the root of presence. And presence is what makes the difference between burnout and breakthrough.

Simple Practice:

Before jumping into your day, close your eyes and take a 5-breath pause. Let each breath drop you deeper into your body. Ask yourself: “What’s the one thing that truly matters today?”
Let that guide you.

Journal Prompts:

Try these couple simple journal prompts to help:

  • What would slowing down feel like in your body? Breathe and tune in.
  • What would slowing down look like in your everyday life — and what one step can you take toward it

Closing Reminder:

Slowing down isn’t weakness — it’s wisdom.
It’s how we hear ourselves again.
It’s how the body heals, how clarity returns, and how we remember what really matters.

If life feels heavy right now, let this be your permission slip to pause. You don’t have to carry it all or figure it all out today. Just come back to now.
That’s where healing lives.

You've got this — one breath, one choice, one moment at a time.

With Love,

Zoe
